Quilt No. 4 | Julie Harper
Julie Harper is a grandmother who lives in a small house in the woods of Sonoma County, California. Daily, she cares for a garden, an orchard and 13 chickens. Julie is a lover of colors and cloth. She has always been drawn to the handmade life and the ancestral practices of textiles. Julie pulls from the land and plants that give colors to yarns and cloth. She cuts the cloth, shapes it, and lays it into patterns. Always finding rhythm, contentment and inspiration in giving birth to quilts.
Julie granted MADRE the exquisite pleasure of making a second quilt that was then hand quilted and bound by Katie Armour in Portland, OR.
